What Does the Affinity Number Represent?

Written by Support

The Affinity Number is a key metric used in Tenscores to help you assess the quality of your keyword grouping after restructuring. This metric appears below ad groups once they have been regrouped and ranges from 1 to 10.

It reflects the strength of the relationship between keywords within an ad group.

What the Affinity Number Tells You

  • Higher Affinity Number (Closer to 10)
A higher affinity number means that the keywords within an ad group are highly related in terms of search intent. These tightly grouped keywords will allow you to create more focused and relevant ads that better match what users are searching for.

  • Lower Affinity Number (Closer to 1)
A lower affinity number indicates that the keywords in the ad group are more loosely related. This could mean that the keywords don’t share the same search intent as strongly, which could lead to less relevant ads and potentially lower click-through rates (CTR).

How to Use the Affinity Number

The affinity number helps you gauge how well your keywords are grouped in terms of their relatedness. A higher affinity number suggests that the ad group is well-structured for relevance, improving the chances of higher CTR and better Quality Scores.

Additionally, in the settings, you can customize the affinity threshold by setting the minimum affinity level you want your keywords to meet. This ensures that your ad groups are even more tightly themed, allowing for even greater targeting precision in your ads.

Why Affinity Matters

The strength of keyword similarity within an ad group is crucial for creating highly relevant ads that resonate with users. By paying attention to the affinity number, you can ensure that your keywords are grouped in a way that maximizes ad relevance, leading to better campaign performance, higher Quality Scores, and lower costs-per-click (CPC).
